Annual Scientific Sessions 2024

The Annual Scientific Sessions of the Sri Lanka Veterinary Association is the premier event for sharing groundbreaking research, clinical insights, and the latest advancement in veterinary and allied sciences. This year’s theme, "One Welfare Through Shared Knowledge and Collaboration", underscores the vital connections between human, animal, and environmental welfare, showcasing the innovative ways veterinary scientists are tackling these complex, interrelated challenges.

We are honored to welcome Prof. Terance Madujith, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya, as our chief guest. Our keynote speaker, Dr. Viskam Wijewardana, Head of the Animal Production and Health Laboratory at the Joint FAO/IAEA Center and a distinguished alumnus of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science, brings a wealth of international expertise. Dr. Jenny-Ann Toribio, an Associate Professor in Epidemiology at the University of Sydney, will be our plenary speaker; her epidemiological vision in resolving One Health issues in developing countries is instrumental.

This year’s sessions, organized under six thematic areas (Veterinary Clinical Sciences, Animal Health, Animal Production, Wildlife and Aquatic Veterinary Medicine, Public Health, and Veterinary Educational Research), aim to elevate scientific visibility and celebrate outstanding research with awards and recognition. Join us for an inspiring and informative gathering that promises to push the boundaries of veterinary science and practice.
